Welcome to the National Capital Hoops Circuit (NCHC). These terms explain how our basketball league works and what we expect from teams and players. By registering or participating, you agree to these terms. If you have questions, just ask—we're here to help.

About NCHC and Our Platform

NCHC is a competitive basketball league operating in the Ottawa area. We use software licensed from SimpleHoops to manage registrations, schedules, rosters, and league communications. When you use our website and apps, you're using both NCHC services and SimpleHoops technology.

Think of it like this: NCHC runs the league, SimpleHoops provides the tools to make it all work smoothly.

Who Can Register

To register a team with NCHC, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have authority to register players (as coach, manager, or authorized representative)
  • Provide accurate team and contact information
  • Have permission from parents/guardians for any players under 18

Registration and Payments

Team Registration

When you register a team, you're committing to participate in the league season or sessions you've selected. Registration fees are non-refundable after the registration deadline unless the league cancels your division.

Payment Options

  • Full payment: Pay the entire season fee upfront
  • Installment plans: Available for qualifying packages. Payments are processed automatically according to the schedule you agree to at checkout

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We never see or store your complete credit card information.

Cancellation Policy

Team withdrawals after the registration deadline result in forfeiture of registration fees. If you need to withdraw due to exceptional circumstances, contact us—we'll work with you to find a solution when possible.

League Rules and Conduct

Sportsmanship

NCHC is committed to providing a positive basketball experience. We expect all participants—players, coaches, and spectators—to:

  • Treat opponents, officials, and staff with respect
  • Follow game rules and referee decisions
  • Avoid unsportsmanlike conduct, verbal abuse, or physical altercations
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone

Violations and Consequences

Violations of league rules or poor conduct may result in warnings, game suspensions, season suspensions, or permanent bans from NCHC. Serious violations will be reported to appropriate authorities. We take safety seriously.

Liability and Assumption of Risk

Basketball is a physical sport with inherent risks including injury. By participating in NCHC activities:

  • You acknowledge these risks and voluntarily assume them
  • You release NCHC, its organizers, officials, volunteers, sponsors, and venue owners from liability for injuries or damages during league activities
  • You're responsible for your own medical insurance and expenses
  • NCHC does not provide health, accident, or liability insurance for participants

Your Account and Data

When you register, you create an account in our system powered by SimpleHoops. You're responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • Maintaining accurate team and player information
  • Any activity that occurs under your account

Photos and Media

NCHC may photograph or record games for promotional purposes, social media, or league archives. By participating, you grant NCHC permission to use these images. If you have concerns about being photographed, please let us know.

Changes to Schedule or Rules

We reserve the right to modify game schedules, league rules, or division structures if necessary. We'll communicate changes through email or the website. Check your schedule regularly for updates.

Technology Platform Terms

Our registration system and team management tools are provided by SimpleHoops. When using these tools, you also agree to SimpleHoops' terms. The SimpleHoops platform:

  • Stores your team and player information securely
  • Processes payments through Stripe
  • Enables communication between teams and league staff
  • Is provided "as is" without guarantees of perfect uptime or error-free operation

The Legal Stuff (Required But Boring)

These terms are governed by Canadian law. NCHC's total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for registration. Some jurisdictions don't allow liability limitations, so these may not apply to you.

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be communicated via email. Your continued participation means you accept the updated terms.
